On a small square only part of the theme fits, so the shorter names tend to win the space: the ones brief enough to slot in almost anywhere. Longer anatomical mouthfuls need room to stretch, and here there is little of it. What you get is a sample of the theme rather than a full tour.
This is a sensible first grid for anyone who has never done one, and an easy warm-up before something larger. It also prints well as a filler for a session that needs a quick opening activity. Since words only run rightwards and downwards, there is nothing awkward to explain before people start.
Check the edges early. On a board this narrow a longer word has to begin near a border to fit at all, so the outer rows and columns tend to give up answers first.
