Keyboard: arrows to move, Enter to start a word, arrows to extend, Enter again to confirm, Esc to cancel.
Combine the widest field with backwards reading and the number of lines you have to inspect grows in every direction at once: across, down, both slants, and each of those the other way round. Nothing is hidden unfairly, since the words are placed by the same rules as every other grid, but there is a lot of ground and no shortcut through it.
Print it for someone who complains that puzzles end too soon, or keep it on the table over a few days and add a word whenever you pass. Most solvers do not finish this one in a single go, and that is the point: it is meant to be picked up, put down, and returned to with fresh eyes.
Give each pass one job. Clear everything that reads forwards first, then come back for the reversed words once the grid is already half crossed out.
