This is the size to print when one sheet has to last: a residence activity session, a long journey, a quiet afternoon at a family table. Photocopies stay readable because the letters are not crammed, and two people can lean over the same page without getting in each other's way, one taking the top half and one the bottom.

On a field this wide the diagonals are the real work. A slanted word can start almost anywhere, and there are far more diagonal lines to check than there are rows, so the search stops being a quick scan and becomes a method. Nearly every word the theme has to give will be in there somewhere.

Work in horizontal bands a few rows deep and let each band overlap the one above it, so that no diagonal can slip through the join unnoticed.
