Density is the whole character of this board. With diagonals allowed and little space to place them, entries overlap and share letters, so a single square can belong to two jobs at once. A promising sequence often turns out to be half of one word running into another, and the trick is to check before you circle.

Long titles from the theme suffer most in tight quarters: the ones built from many syllables have to bend into a diagonal to fit, which is often where they end up. Shorter trades are the opposite problem — they slip between other words and vanish. Both are worth hunting separately rather than in one pass.

Give the climbing direction its own pass. Words that rise towards the top right are the ones players miss, because the eye tracks down a page rather than back up it.
