Size and difficulty compound each other. A large field already takes a while to read; adding backwards and upward entries means each square has to be considered in every direction, and the work grows accordingly. This is not a puzzle to fit into a gap in the day — it is one to sit down with.

The full kitchen list appears, so you are working through utensils, appliances, tableware, store-cupboard staples and cooking methods in the same grid. Printed large, it holds up to being left on a table and returned to, which is how most people get through one of these rather than in a single unbroken stretch.

Work in passes rather than word by word. Sweep the whole grid once for forward entries, then go back over it looking only for reversals; separating the passes keeps you from re-reading the same rows endlessly.
