Keyboard: arrows to move, Enter to start a word, arrows to extend, Enter again to confirm, Esc to cancel.
Two new directions open up here: down-right and up-right. A word can now climb across the grid instead of sitting in a straight line, which changes how the board looks more than how hard it is. Every entry still reads forwards, letter after letter in the usual order, so once you find the first letter the rest follows normally.
The farm list gives the diagonals plenty to work with, because it mixes land words such as meadow and orchard with short animal names, and the two behave very differently on a slant. This is the size to reach for when you want a proper sitting rather than a quick pass.
Once a diagonal candidate starts, commit to it: at this level words are never reversed, so if the next letter along the slant is wrong, the answer is not there and you can drop it instead of testing the other way.
